What’s new in Oxygen OS with OnePlus 8 Series

One of the USPs of the OnePlus smartphones has been the Oxygen OS. The Oxygen OS provides close to stock Android experience with a good set of customization options. Oxygen OS is smart, swift and efficient.

OnePlus announced some cool new Oxygen OS features during the OnePlus 8 Series launch. If you haven’t checked it out yet you can read it here. The new Oxygen OS features are expected to come to older OnePlus devices as well. The company is yet to confirm the list of devices which will receive the update. Here are the new Oxygen OS features.

  • Real-time Live Wallpapers

Live wallpapers are now connected to the OnePlus weather app to change the hues and colors of the wallpaper according to real-time weather conditions in your region. An active network connection is required for the real-time wallpapers to function.

  • New Dark Theme

Oxygen OS

Dark Theme option in OnePlus devices is present since the very first OnePlus One. Last year when OnePlus 7 Series received an Android 10 update, there was a new option to enable System-Wide Dark Mode. With this new dark theme option, the blacks are deeper and enable the dark theme to all compatible third-party apps as well to maintain consistent viewing experience. Dark Theme keeps your eyes comfortable in low light and even helps prolong battery life.

  • Smooth Battle 2.0

Oxygen OS

Smooth Battle 2.0 brings optimization to make scrolling smooth and hassle-free. With Oxygen OS on board, Smooth Battle 2.0 makes the scrolling experience smoother. OnePlus also mentioned that there were 280 optimizations to make scrolling and navigation smoother than before.

  • Live Caption

Live Caption is a feature that Google announced in Google I/O 2019. OnePlus has partnered with Google to bring audio and video captions in real-time. This feature is only available on OnePlus 8 Series and previous OnePlus devices might receive during further updates.

  • 100GB Google One Cloud Storage

OnePlus has partnered with Google to provide users with free 100GB cloud storage for the first 3 months.

  • Google Stadia

Oxygen OS

In addition to the above 2 Google services, Google’s Stadia cloud gaming service will be available on the OnePlus 8 Pro. This feature will also come to a few other OnePlus devices through future updates.
