OnePlus smartphones are among the most popular smartphones around the globe and as far as India is concerned, OnePlus is the number one premium device maker according to several reports. OnePlus launched their first smartphone, the OnePlus One in India back in 2014 and since then they have launched a total of 15 smartphones in the country including the latest OnePlus 8 Series smartphones.

OnePlus has come a long way since they started to sell its smartphones in India. The OnePlus One was priced aggressively and that created a lot of hype and also thanks to the Invite System, OnePlus gained a lot of customer traction. The Original Flagship Killer, OnePlus One was the first smartphone from OnePlus and it was announced in China at first in April 2014. OnePlus found a new way to sell their smartphone, the “Invite System“. It was also the first phone to come with CyanogenMod out of the box.

After the successor of the popular OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 was launched in July 2015 and again, the company implemented the Invite system at the start to get the device. Also, the launch of OnePlus 2 was quite special as they launched via VR and just before the launch, they had sold VR headset for INR 1 on Amazon.in.

OnePlus 2 came with an upgraded processor, battery, camera, and a physical fingerprint sensor. OnePlus also removed the NFC, which was a big let down in countries like the USA. It was also the first phone to come with USB Type-C port but, lacked any kind of fast charging and finally, OnePlus also packed their custom skin – OxygenOS.

OnePlus X

Just 3 months after unveiling the OnePlus 2, OnePlus launched the OnePlus X in October 2015. This is the company’s first and only budget smartphone to date. OnePlus X featured smooth glass back with textured aluminum bezels which provided a better grip. Again, the Invite system continued with the OnePlus X. The OnePlus X was a compact device at the time but was powered by an outdated chipset and also the camera performance was just average.

Launched in June 2016, OnePlus 3 is one of the best device from OnePlus to date. OnePlus 3 was a true successor to the OnePlus 2 and all the flaws from the OnePlus 2 with the likes of a metal body, Dash Charge, NFC, better camera, and feature-rich OxygenOS. Also, OnePlus finally decide to remove the invite system completely. Dash Charge(20W charge) was the highlight of the device and also it received four Android upgrades(Marshmallow to Pie).

OnePlus 3T

Slogan: A day’s power in half an hour

To be honest, this was quite a surprise from OnePlus, in 2016  November, the company devices to launch another flagship smartphone dubbed OnePlus 3T. This was just an incremental upgrade from the OnePlus 3. The 3T featured a full metal body and came in a new coat of paint – Gunmetal along-side the Soft Gold option. OnePlus 3T was powered by Snapdragon 821 and also supported Google’s Daydream VR headset. Just like the OnePlus 3, the 3T also received 4 Android upgrades.

Building on the success of the Oneplus 3 series, OnePlus launched OnePlus 5 in June 2017. OnePlus skipped the number 4 as it is considered to be unlucky in many South-East Asian countries. OnePlus 5 was the first smartphone from the company to feature dual-camera set-up at the rear to boost camera performance. Also, it came with up to 8GB RAM.

OnePlus launched 5T, the incremental upgrade to the OnePlus 5 was announced in November 2017. OnePlus 5T came up with face unlock, which was one of the fastest. Also, they announced a special edition OnePlus 5T in collaboration with StarWars and it came with a special box and accessories.

In May 2018, OnePlus 6 was unveiled with a new design and powerful specs. OnePlus 6 came with a notch upfront, which was quite underwhelming at the time of launch. Even though OnePlus 6 was not IP certified, it could take a water splash. featured a water-resistant, dust-free, splash. OnePlus launched OnePlus 6T in October 2018. As the name suggests, OnePlus 6T was an incremental upgrade of OnePlus 6 and came up with the larger display, slightly bigger battery and in-display fingerprint sensor. OnePlus also said goodbye to the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack here.
